Balkan Tensions Rekindled: Serbia-Kosovo

Tensions are escalating once again between Serbia and Kosovo, reigniting a long-standing conflict in the region. NATO has announced the deployment of 700 additional troops to northern Kosovo following violent protests. The recent flare-up stems from a deeply-rooted mistrust between Serbs and the Kosovo government, triggered by an election boycotted by Serbs in northern Kosovo. The newly elected Albanian mayors' attempt to assume office in municipal buildings led to clashes with Serbs. The international community recognizes the election, but frustrations mount as Kosovo fails to deliver on agreements. Russia's involvement adds to the complexity, with fears of further conflict looming. Dialogue and compromise are seen as vital to resolving the situation.
