Protest In France: Latest Updates by WWF
The controversial pension reforms proposed by President Emmanuel Macron that were focused through parliament without a vote have prompted Trade Unions in France to call for yet another day of widespread massive protests and strikes.
There have been 13 days of strikes and protests in France as a result of the government's decision to raise the eligibility age for public pensions from 62 to 64.
Currently, union leaders are appealing to members to further significant days of action on June 6.
Two days later, parliament is scheduled to discuss a bill that would remove the controversial policy.
Eight unions and five youth organizations pledged to press for the repeal of the reform an the advancement of social progress in a joint statement expressing their steadfast determination to continue the struggle. They highlight the value of unity and called for the nationwide strike and protests to take place on June 6 in support of their cause.
